This auction is for THREE authentic, 1 Real spanish cob coins. Two of them are dated, one is not. They are in great shape with tons of detail. It is amazing that they have been on the sea floor for over 300 years, and are still in such great shape! The coins were recovered from the shipwreck of the Santa Maria de la Consolacion near Isla del Muerto ( island of the dead), in Ecuador. Please study the pictures carefully before placing your bid and feel free to ask any questions. These coins were minted at Potosi, Bolivia and assayed by Antonio de Ergueta during the reign of King Charles II, and Philip IV of Spain. They each come with a mini-certificate of authenticity issued by ROBCAR (the company that discovered and salvaged the wreck). The mini-certs and the coins are housed in rigid plastic protectors, they are the same size as a baseball card. One of these coins has a clear date of 72 on the reverse, another is double dated with a 72 on the obverse and a 72 over 71 on the reverse, the third is undated. All three were minted during the reign of Carlos II of Spain. These coins are very nice and thick and are loaded with detail, they will make a great addition to your cob collection, they would also make excellent gifts or would be great as a starter collection. These coins are becoming scarce as governments further restrict shipwreck read more
