Constellation Collection Volume 1. If you have an interest in the Lockheed Constellation then you need this DVD in your hands. This DVD is comprised of two B&W films. Movie 1: Lockheed Development of the Constellation This film is a close look at the development and manufacturing of the Lockheed Constellation and features segments showing the Connie in use with Trans World Airways (TWA) and Pan American Airways (PAA). You get to see parts of the Constellation development, never before seen. These include wind tunnel, extreme cold, component testing, equipment failure, construction techniques and operational testing. The Lockheed Constellation first saw active duty in the AAF as the C-69 during World War II. We see it here in the first military delivery testing. A number of takeoff, landing and in-flight shots are shown as well. One of my favorite sections is the takeoff and landing testing shot at the Lockheed facility. There is a hanger in the background with a huge sign painted on it that says ?Ship the SLICK way? and in the foreground we see a number of constructed but not yet delivered military Constellations. Interior cabin shots of the Constellation in operation with Pan American Airways are shown. Of particular interest was the section in this film on the use and operation of the TWA "Speedpak" to load additional cargo. Runtime: read more
