This is a Butter Pat in the Gainsborough Pattern, produced by W.T. Copeland & Sons, Ltd. at their Spode Works located at Stoke, England in the Staffordshire Potteries area. It measures 3-3/8" in diameter. Flowers of the English country garden in shades of pink, lavender, blue and yellow with green leaves appear on the Marlborough shape. This shape was modelled from old Dutch silver. The background color is creamy white. This butter pat is in excellent condition. T are no chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or discolorations. The colors are bright and unfaded and the glazed finish is lovely. The Copeland Spode Backstamp was used from 1920 to 1960.
