Up for sale is a beautiful hand-blown Art Deco art glass vase by the renown Dutch glass designer A.D. Copier. This unusual cornflower blue vase measures approx. 11" x &" and is in very good condition. It has a ground foot, a polished pontil and is hand signed: LEERDAM UNICA, C647 and A.D. Copier's work was influenced by the most recent technical discoveries, resulting in personal contemporary designs. Early in his career he was appointed as designer at the Leerdam Glasfabriek (Leerdam Glassworks), where he was given the opportunity to experiment. Together with his team he discovered a wide range of techniques for both utility and one-off 'Unica' pieces, such as the use of tin crackle effects, enamel powders, and free formed bubbles and ribs. His Unicas brought him international fame. Introduced in 1925 as 'Leerdam Unica', these experimental glass objects are regarded as the predecessors of the Studio Glass Movement and show glass as an art object in its own right. - Kunstconsuit - 20th Century Art/Objects
