Coptic Ethiopian Painting on Parchment (Flight into Egypt) Hand Painted in Ethiopia Dimensions ~ 11.7" by 7.8" This painting is a depiction of Jeus Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem and people welcoming and giving their praise and adoration by shouting "Hosanna"- a chant of joy , triumph, and exultation. The Amharic text on the top left reads Hosanna which is also used in the same way in English. We are selling you the same painting you see on the pictures. Painting dimensions may show small variance along the length or width by a maximum of 1/8th an inch. Parchment painting is very sensitive to water and moisture causing it to wrinkle and discolor. After Christianity was introduced in Ethiopia around 330 AD, monasteries grew into flourishing cultural centers where generations of monks passed down a tradition of honoring visual representation of religious subjects including angels, the holy family, and saints.
