This is a Plank-on-Bulkhead Wood Ship Model Kit, and requires moderate modeling skills. Built in 1823, Ranger is typical of the American revenue cutters used for surveillance and coastguard duties during the first half of the 19th century. A large carronade that rotated a full 360 degrees permitted rapid fire from both sides of the hull with a single weapon.
