This was theoriginal idea for Corgi’s Gift Set 17. Scheduled for release in 1961, the boxwas printed but the set never made it into production. It was to have been called GS 17 Ecurie Corgi Land Rover with BRM on trailer. This set was finally released later on, in March 1963 completely different with the 154 Ferrari on the trailer but still numbered GS17. The set consists of a 438 Land Rover, fitted with the earlier tin-plate canopy and tin plate towing hook, a 152 BRM racing car and the trailer. Using photographs to copy both of the models, and the box, this set is magnificent and certainly not readily available. All of the models have been finished in the colours depicted on the image of the box as there is no other reference to the colour variations intended by Corgi. Planned for earlier release than the Ferrari GS 17, this set uses the older version of the 438 Land Rover. An ideal collectors item to compliment the GS16 Ecurie Ecosse Racing Transporter. The attention to detail is brilliant. Included in the auction is a repro box for display. We have now managed to get the inner plinth for the repro box, so this is included as well.
