Superb, rare, important, vintage antique handcolored dated 1860 map, titled lower right hand side, Map of the South of England, Shewing the spaces enclosed by the Works of Fortifications, recommended to the Royal Commission, February , 1860, this dates the map nicely. Attractive horizontal format, large map. I see Cornwall, Devonshire , Isle of Wight , Dorcetshire , Hampshire , Middlesex, Surrey , Wiltshire and much more. The map has some clean seperation at right hand side, along the fold, and has a couple tape repairs on verso t The map is very detailed, fascianting period map of this area of Ireland. The map has many finely handcolored areas, related to military defences, I believe forts, and so forth. The map is printed on fine paper, in excellent conditon, and would frame and display quite nicely. The size of the map is 19" by 38". Rare. This is an antique 1860 map and not a reprint or reproduction. Winning bidder pays $3.50 shipping domestic, more foreign.
