This is a stunning and extremely rare 'Horse Head' jelly belly pin, designed by Adolph Katz in 1942 and manufactured by Cohn & Rosenberger, Inc., or better know as Coro. The back is marked: "Sterling CoroCraft". This brooch is gold-plated sterling silver, with the horse's mane and neck made out of Lucite, green stone for its eye and outlined facial features in black and red enamel and clear rhinestones. This fantastic jelly belly is featured in Brunialti's: "American Costume Jewelry: Art & Industry, 1935-1950" and it is graded with ****(four stars) on the scale of 1-5, with 5 being the most rare. In the book it describes it as a pin clip, but the one being offered is a pin, which makes us think that it was possibly converted at some point, to make it more wearable. The condition of this wonderful brooch is excellent, with all the enameling intact, very minor wear to gold-plating and a couple of original clear rhinestones being darker.
