This is a large Cranberry Slag Glass Water Pitcher... with a hand applied Crystal Handle and base... and an exaggerated hand crimped Â"Spanish DancerÂ" style... or Â"Ruffled PetticoatÂ" top... rim and hand formed pour spout. It stands a very impressive 10 1⁄2 inches tall... and over 9 inches from the tip of the pour spout to the curve of the slender Â"thin ribbedÂ"... hand applied handle. It appears to be in excellent condition. IÂ'm finding no Â"makerÂ's markÂ" anyw on this Pitcher... which is not surprising. We find that a good portion of all glassware... of this type... was produced from molds that did not contain identifying makerÂ's marks. Attached paper labels were usually the only identification they carried... and these were most often devoured by the first bath of warm soapy water the piece was subjected to!!!... In some cases we recognize a pattern... and can attribute it to a specific maker. But in many cases... old companies have closed down... and their molds have been... Â"scattered to the windsÂ"... making it almost impossible to fallow the elusive trail of both the patterns... and the molds. For us glass collectors t are two distinct fields when it comes to Â"glass colorsÂ". The field of common colors include those colors we run across without much of a search. And then t is the field of more rare exotic colors. These are the elusive colors that many collectors rarely... if ever... have exposure to. I would classify Â"Cranberry GlassÂ" as a Â"CommonÂ" color... but at the far end of that Â"common colorÂ" category... and just teetering on the border between the common... and the Â"exoticÂ'sÂ"!!!... Water Pitcher were a everyday fixture on yesterdayÂ's dinner tables... maybe not ones quite as fancy as this... but they were an important part of everyday life. But times change... and that old dependable friend has slipped into the pages of history... along with Spooners... Butter Dishes... Salt Dips... Bone Dishes and all the other items that used to be regular visitors. But... all is not lost!!!... If you didnÂ't see fit to use this beauty as a Water Pitcher... wouldnÂ't it make a absolutely stunning Vase!!!.... I can assure you... itÂ's going to take some kind of a bouquet to keep the viewers eyes on the flowers... and off this gorgeous... Cranberry and White Slag Glass... Water Pitcher!!!...
