Up for auction is this commemorative coronation plate from the May 12th, 1937 coronation of H.M. Edward VIII. Edward became king of the United Kingdom following the death of his father, George V, but ruled for less than a year. He abdicated the throne in order to marry his lover, Wallis Simpson, thereafter taking the title Duke of Windsor. Plate is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or any flaws that I can see, and measures 8" across. The stamp on the back reads: Creampetal Grindley England.
