After collecting Colorado postcards for 30+ years, the time has come for me to lighten my load and sell my collection. Many are rare, one-of-a-kind cards. I hope you enjoy them. Thisis a real photo postcard of “Burro Bridge” in West Willow Creek Canon above Creede, Colorado. Creede, located in the eastern San Juan Mountains, was Colorado’s last major silver-mining camp. Ore from the Amethyst and Last Chance mines had to be transported down the steep and narrow canon to ore bins. Ore was initially brought ought in sacks by burros, but a road was eventually built for ore wagons. The Last Chance used ore wagons, but the Amethyst later built an aerial tramway to transport its ore down the canon. The card was published by Sanborn (X1158) and was made from an 1890s photograph. The image shows several burros on the bridge taking supplies up the canon to the mines. The card was mailed from Creede to Waverly, Kansas in 1947. It is in good-very good condition with minor corner and edge wear (see scans for condition). This will make a nice addition for a person who collects Creede, mining, and/or Colorado postcards. The card has been scanned outside the margins so you can see the corners and edges. I will be happy to answer questions. Postage is $2.00 in the U.S., $3.50 in Canada, and $8.88 International. I will send the card to the winner read more
