This is a beautiful scrimshaw art cribbage board done on what looks like a whale bone. The art depicts two beautiful large whalers and three smaller fishing boats in the middle of a hunt. The markings on the back identifies one of the whalers as the Topaz off Marquiesas Islands. The board does not contain the pegs, but it makes for a beautiful art piece. Could be a replica done on a man made compound made to resemble bone. The etching, I believe, is still hand made.
