I have for sale what i think is an unusual genuine Advertising match safe. I would date this item to the early 20th century? I have only ever seen a picture of one of these before,on an american auction site and it was in silver. It is advertising The famous cuban cigar company, El Telegrafo? The safe appears to be made from a base metal and has i believe a nickel coating over it, the safe is rectangular in shape. The safe has pressed wood grain detail all over it, done in inclosed panels, so safe resembles a small panelled box. The lid has a pressed cartouche slightly raised from service, this has wording around outer, this reads ;El Telegrafo Key West, set inside the cartouch are the words, Celestino palacio YCA Ferdinand Hirsch. In the corner of the back panel are the words; Diffany rd? Co Newark.N.J. Front panel reads ; Factory No 60. Box has had a brownish finish originaly over metal this has worn down from use leaving a lovely genuine look and feel to item. Lift up lid ,with small recess to front for lifting. Hinge is tight with no damage. Striker edge to reverse.used. No dents or damage . Only minimal marks consistent with age. I suggest a very good addition to anyones collection.
