US CURRENCY 1869 10 CENT FRACTIONAL FINE 4TH ISSUE Old Paper Money FREE SHIPPING 1869 10 CENT FRACTIONAL NOTE FOURTH ISSUE This is a distinctively different note from most US Currency. It is one of the HARDEST TO FIND-- Extra SMALL SIZE FRACTIONAL NOTES , the 1869 $.10 US NOTE , in FINE condition in my opinion, but you can judge for yourself to make the final decision with these photos. You can enlarge both photos . It has the small portrait of LIBERTY. It is green on the reverse and was printed in 1869 just after the US Civil War under President Andrew Johnston. In the years of the US Civil War starting in 1862 there was a critical shortage of coins. It became such a problem that for 14 years the government issued small size notes called FRACTIONAL CURRENCY. This was from the fourth issue of fractional paper money ever issued by the USA. It has a large red seal. The note is all there and attractive despite its age, with 4 full corners, good color contrast with no writing, ink, or missing pieces. There are signs of use like folds, soiling, and wrinkles. There is some staining, and a tiny internal split of 1/8" or less. T his is a good looking example of old paper money especially for a small size fractional note which are often very worn out when they are found. This is about as old as US money gets.
