Custom Built PRR H21A 70T Hopper with Load O Scale - 2-rail Sprung Trucks - Kaydee Couplers Brake wheel and shaft will be included - see photo. The late Tom Tronzo of Beaver Falls, PA built this very nice rendition of Pennsy's ubiquitous H21 4-bay hopper car in his basement using three primary tools: a gas torch, metal shears and ballpeen hammer. Try taking those three tools, some sheet brass, and replicating the job he did here. Tom's knowledge of railroading and modeling was enormous. Besides spending 40 years working as a carman at the Pennsy's sprawling Conway Yard, and being a life-long model railroader, Tom was a close friend of the late Max Gray, then of Cleveland, and often sent examples of his work for a look-see. There can be little doubt that some of them were then sent to Japan's Katsumi for copying. So here it is, a real history of O Scale piece, linking both American ingenuity and the economies of foreign fabrication. So the next time you eye a Japanese-built Max Gray or US Hobbies freight car, its just possible it originated in a basement in Beaver Falls, PA.Vertical brake wheel included separately.
