For sale - my Fender '51 Reissue Precision Bass with pick up customisation. This is the reissue of the original 1951 slab body Fender Precision Bass, crafted in Japan in 1997/98 (Serial Number A011428) with a one off professional pick up conversion to a split coil Razor P Precision pick ups (a bit like the Mike Dirnt vintage precision bass), done by renowned guitar customiser and manufacturer, Paul Richardson (http://www./index.html). This gives the bass the look of the vintage 1951 Precision Bass with the thump of the more modern split coil pickup - and it's a very fine sounding bass indeed, as well as being totally unique. Because of the routing needed to fit the split coil pickup, it is not possible to convert it back to the original single coil pickup, but I will include the original pickup in the sale (you could sell it) as well as an additional black scratch plate. I bought this bass from a jobbing blues band bass player, so it has certainly earned its keep. There are a couple of chips on the body (see photo) and a tiny tiny one near the headstock, but these add to the authentic feel of the guitar. Why buy a relic-ed (and usually ludicrously overdone) guitar when you can get one with real history and real wear?
