CV - 62 USS INDEPENDENCE These are four unusual items from the Independence: An A.W.O.L bag; a photograph album; a ceramic beer mug; and a red sweatshirt. The AWOL or week-ender or sports bag is navy with yellow trim; U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE , CV-62 is written in yellow. It has one zipper and that works fine; I found one missing tooth, but that doesn't seem to hinder it's performance. I think it is a heavy vinyl and starting to get a little stiff, but not brittle. It needs to be cleaned - mostly dust, but as I am unsure how to proceed, I'll leave that for the next owner. It is approx 16 ½ inches x 8 inches x 10 ½ inches deep, excluding handles. The photograph album is green with U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE stamped in gold. T are no pictures in it and it looks as if t never was any - perfect for adding your own. It is large; 12" x14". The white ceramic beer mug has the liberty bell seal. The bottom says: McCoy - Oven-Proof - U S A. McCoy Pottery started using this logo in 1968. It has 2 faint hairline cracks in the side. I wouldn't pour hot or very cold liquids in it, but it displays beautifully. It is 5 ¼ inches high. The red sweatshirt has NAVY in big, bold yellow letters with USS INDEPENDENCE CV-62 also in yellow letters over a gray aircraft carrier.
