These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. What a SUPER ring! This ring was found at a Roman military encampment site in the former Roman Province of Moesia and dates from 200 - 500 A.D.This ring features a raised, oval bezel which has a votive motif on it.T is a flower engraved rather deeply in the center of the bezel. The engraving is of some type of "LILY"The Lily is known as the "Virgin's Flower" and also as the symbol of Innocence, Light , Purity, Perfection, Mercy and Majesty. In Greco-Roman mythology this flower was sacred to Hear and Artemis. In Byzantium and early France, it was a royal emblem (the fleur-de-lis is sometimes considered a stylized lily). Primarily the lily has Christian associations, usually attached to the Virgin Mary w it signifies chastity. when Christ is shown as the judge of the world with a lily in his mouth, the flower represents mercy.
