This is a unique shaped carving chisel that is 1.0" wide at the cutting edge, and has the flat sweep gouge, and flared front, chisel design. This one is marked "D.R. BARTON 4" on the steel. We believe this to be an American toolmaker, made during the mid 1800's to early 1920's era. It is 8.2" long overall, sharp, ready to use condition, no rust or pitting, and and has a fancy cocobolo or rosewood handle with the long nickel plated fancy ferrule that has a flourdelis design pressed into it, in good solid, nice looking condition. A very hard to find chisel in great shape overall!
