Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE Self Portrait Baroness Grey-Thompson DBE is one of Britain's greatest paralympic athletes, winning 15 Paralympic medals, including 11 gold and 6 times winner of the London Wheelchair Marathon over a career spanning 16 years. In 2005 she was created a "Dame" for her services to sport.Now retired from competitive sport, Tanni's current roles include membership of the boards of UK Athletics, London Marathon and Transport for London. In March 2010 Tanni was made a crossbench peer, becoming Baroness Grey-Thompson of Eaglescliffe in the County of Durham. "I think there is a big difference between how we see ourselves as individuals and how people on the outside do. I think what it says about me is that I'm happy.
