Very old style dance rattle first seen in a Bodmer painting of the now famous Hidatsa Dog Soldier. Although this one is unbeaded it is made with a sinew sewn buckskin cover. It is a steamed and bent choke cherry sapling. T are 36 deer toes attached to the fringes. The rattle measures 17 inches around the curve. Has that old sound that predates brass bells.
