Danish Pride Ben Wade Freehand Estate Pipe This pipe as well as few others will be coming to you from my Father's (J.M. Boswell) personal collection. These pipes were all case kept, unless of course they were being enjoyed by him. Not to mention they were regularly cleaned and groomed by none other than J.M. Boswell himself. Thank you! Beautiful Sandblast with few panels of straight grain Mahogany finish A few natural imperfections Black original Ben Wade stem has the crown on top of stem (however it is light) Plateau Crown Very thin line of cake in the bowl Stem shows no signs of chatter This pipe has been extremely well cared for Be sure to expand the pictures to see the full detail of this unique pipe Information on Ben Wade: English brand dating back to 1860 and , in the early 20th century, one of Charatan's great competitors. The Ben Wade factory, in Leeds, was destroyed during World War II by German bombing but later rebuilt. It closed in 1965, and the brand was bought by Charatan, who used it for some pipes with slight imperfections. In the 70's an in the early 80', the brand was also used by late Danish artisan Preben Holm, one of those responsible for renovating shapes, with tremendously imaginative freehand.
