Dantes Purgatory & Paradise Cary Gustave Dore Description: Another of this weeks auctions is for Dante's Purgatory and paradise. Translated by The Rev. Henry Francis Cary. From the Original of Dante Alighieri. I have both Volumes with the same cover design, BOTH volumes are Illustrated by Gustave Dore. New Edition. Cassell & Co. No date. but traced narrowed down to a 1883 printing date, Brown cloth stamped in black and gilt. 337 pages, gilt edges. Very good Condition, some fading of gilding. Large, heavy books, approx 10x12 1/4 inches.The binding on Purgatory and paradise is still attached tight and in good order. I have posted most of the FULL SIZE Pictures so you can SEE the detail.
