This is a guide and souvenir issued by the Darjeeling-Himalayan Railway Company Ltd. The book was primarily aimed at the British who ruled India at the time and took to the hills during the hot weather, or for 'holidays'. The guide describes the journey from Siliguri in the Eastern Himalayas, reaching its maximum height of 7400 feet at Ghum before descending to a lower spur on which Darjeeling stands. Handling wear and some soiling (particularly to board fore-edges) to red cloth boards, no dj, 106 pages, numerous photographic and sketch illustrations, one map. Name of former owner, and stamps of 'A H Wheeler Railway Bookstalls' on seconde ffep. Scarce.
