You are bidding on a darling early Chatty Cathy doll. with the harder to find brown eyes. She is a No. 3, meaning she has the round but open speaker grill, dating her to early 1961. She also has transitional limbs. In 1961 Mattel began changing the material they used for Chatty Cathy's body and the vinyl they used during this period tended to fade and whiten. The limbs have faded evenly, which is good. She is wearing a plaid skirt and blouse, probably made from a Chatty Cathy pattern. It fits perfectly and is just the kind of thing a little girl of her age would have worn 54 years ago. She is in good but not perfect condition. Her one notable flaw is a blue and red stain on her upper right hip/thigh very prominently in back and a little in front. It extends lightly down the back of her leg with another tiny red dot on her calf and a light red mark on left forearm. She has a nice face with clear eyes, full lashes, a nice dusty of freckles and original coral lip paint. She has a full head of thick hair, with only a few empty root plugs in back underneath where the hair probably got caught in her pull ring. Very common. She has tight limbs and can hold up her arms. She no longer talks but the pull ring is there and retracts so she could be fixed. She is wearing original panties and socks. Her outfit is newer, but appears from a pattern. read more
