DATED 1901 12 LIMOGES PLATES LADIES OF THE FRENCH COURT This listing is for a set of 12 hand painted portrait plates from the Limoges company Tressemann and Vogt. Each plate has a hand painted center of one of the women from the French and English courts. The plates measure just under 10 inches at 25 cm in diameter. Each plate is signed in underglaze green on the back "T&V FRANCE" also on the back of each plate is the identification of the person on the front of the plate along with the date "1901". Besides the center portrait decoration all the plates are trimmed with very heavy applied gold. Between the two gold borders are six alternating pink and blue flower sprays. Each of the portraits is signed the artist "M. E. REIFF". The plates have the following portraits: Lady Jane Grey, Queen of England in 1554 Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots 1542-1567 Princess de Lamballe, lady of the court of Louis XVI Marie Antoniette, Queen of France married to Louis XVI Henriette de Bourbon, Duchess of Chartres Princess Elizabeth, Queen of England 1558-1603 Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire Empress Josephine, first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte Elizabeth of Austria, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, Croatia and Bohemia Anne of Cleves, 4th wife of Henry VIII Madame Recamier, a Frenchwoman who was a leader of the literary and political circles of
