ITEM A hotel plate with gold highlighting. The blue flows faintly on the underglaze.SIZE 8 3/4 inches across. WEIGHT 514 grams / 1 lb. MAKER Davenport. It was made for the George Meyer Victoria Hotel. PATTERN Gaudy.AGE Circa 1860. From 1815 to about 1830 this mark was used. It seems to have been reintroduced circa 1860 ( "Davenport Ceramic Marks 1794-1887", mark S4 Charles Duckworth) so I am attributing the plate to the later date. CONDITION For its age and use very good. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs and the colours and gold are still strong. NOTES This is a one off item so the postage quoted is an ESTIMATE until it is packed AFTER the auction, when the actual cost can be given on the invoice. The estimated international postage is based on the cost to U.S.A. Other countries may be different. European charges will be cheaper. When it is cheaper to do so multiple items will be sent in one box. Tracking adds to the postage cost and is not always included. If required please advise so a quote can be given.
