Set of 12 David-Andersen (Norway) Silver Cloisonne Enamelled Demitasse Coffee Spoons and Sugar Tongs with Original Gold Wash Presented in Original Fitted Leather (Shagreen?) Case - Imported to the UK in 1897 and Assayed in Birmingham - Very Rare Indeed! Made at the end of the Nineteenth Century by the master himself, this listing is for 12 double-sided cloisonne enamelled spoons in sky blue with elaborate scrolling cloisons surrounded by white 'beads' on bowls. (This design is featured on the pages dedicated to David-Andersen on the site - highly collectible!!!) Each spoon measures approx. 9.7cms and is offered for sale in very good condition. (Some of the spoons have a minute amount of enamel loss to the heel in the 'v' shaped areas but this is barely noticeable to the naked eye...) Hallmarks on the tongs show 'Norway' to one side and '925s' on the other side, along with import marks (letter 'x') for the UK dating them to 1897, lion passant (solid silver) anchor mark for Birmingham and letter 'F' for foreign import. D-A's benchtools hallmark is stamped on the other side of the tong. Spoons also bear these hallmarks along the length of the stems on the sides.
