Manchester United signed David to their youth training program when he was 14, and he began his Pro football career at age 17. He made 394 appearances and scored 85 goals with Manchester United, and in 2003 he was traded to Real Madrid for 23 million Euros, making him only the third Englishman to play for the team. He also has been the captain of the English n ational team, and he is the first Englishman to score in three separate World Cup tournaments.
