This Hitchcock style chair decorated by the artist David Fertig (1946 - ). The decoration on the backrest is of two warships of the Napoleonic era engaged in battle. This chair was decorated by Fertig in the late 1990's when he began painting his current subject of the Napoleonic era. .The chair itself is painted in a deep blue-grey and of wood construction with a rush seat. A quote by John Keats, "What weapons has a lion but itself?" is inscribed on the top bar. The wood square end pieces of the seat are labeled as the 4 points of a compass.I have not had the chair itself appraised as to age. The chair is the vehicle for Fertig's decoration. I am selling it as the work of art it is rather than as furniture.Shipping will be paid by the buyer.
