Framed. 8x10. Signed. This is a small Vintage Authentic Original Oil Painting on canvas (Rabbi) by David Pelbam and is signed Pelbam bottom right. It is circa 1950s. It measures 10" X 12" unframed and 12" x 14" matted and framed. The frame is all wood. Front formed to simulate large bamboo but gold painted showing some wear on the front and back. The frame back has 2 chips of the wood making it appear to be much older than the painting and which it very well may be much older than the painting.Condition is very good considering its age. There are no holes, tears, scratches, craquelure, or restorations in the painting. It had been wrapped in old newspaper, a small piece of it stuck to the frame back. 4 dots of it on the front of the Rabbi's black robe may have been intended by the artist, because it seems to coordinate with the "angel in the mist" in flight above him. Many collectors to not want a vintage piece that has been cleaned. Therefore, neither the painting, wood back, nor matting has not been cleaned so as not to take away from it's clearly vintage appearance. David Pelbam was born in 1932 and was best known for painting portraits of dock workers, ship captains and rabbis.
