Piper Bill Millin was personal piper to Lord Lovat on D-day 6th June 1944. They landed on Sword beach Normandy and Piper Millin Played the pipes as the Commando's of Lovat's 1st Special Services Brigade stormed ashore. Later that day Piper Bill Millin played again as Lovat's Commando's relieved Major John Howard at Pegasus Bridge. In June 2013 a bronze statue of Bill Millin will be unveiled to commemorate the D-day landings and will be a lasting tribute to the Commando's who gave their lives to liberate France. This booklet was produced by Andy Buchanan, Commando, now retired. It gives a short history of Commando training at Achnacarry and gives the reader an insight into the times these men lived. The Foreword is written and signed by John Millin, Bill Millin's son. All proceeds go towards the statue fund. thank you.
