De La Rue Casket (travelling) ink. This interesting item is a travelling inkwell manufactured by De La Rue & Company. It is made of chrome plate and comprises an outer protective casket that has a circular opening to show the inner inkwell. The outer casket is engraved around the top of the circular opening De La Rue & Co.s and underneath Manufactured in Paris Thos. De La Rue & Co London & Paris. The inner inkwell is engraved in circular form ( so that it can be read through the outer case opening) De La Rue & Co.s Casket Ink . The bottom is engraved with the same wording as the outer casket. The outer casket is hinged along the length. It is not damaged. The outer casket shows some signs of wear but overall it is in good condition. The inkwell lid is spring loaded and opens by pressing a button on the side to reveal the glass inkwell. Both the spring mechanism in the lid and the catch are strong and working well. The glass inner inkwell is not damaged. There are a few minor areas of tarnishing on the plated inkwell. This would be a nice addition for collectors of unusual travelling inkwells.
