This view camera is a 4x5 Special Serial #271. The 4x5 Special is the exact same body as the 5x7 View. The only difference is the back and the name plate on the front of the camera. In the early days of production this camrea was called a 4x5 Deardorff View. The name 4x5 Special was a way to differ the two cameras. When a customer wanted a 4x5 back it was a special order item. This camera comes with the 4x5 back and a 5x7 back. The 4x5 back has the ground glass plate and the 5x7 back is missing the ground glass plate. The following items are included with this Deardorff 4 X 5 Special View Camera: (1) Rodenstock Sironar-n 2:5.6 f=180mm MC lens with board (1) Super Intergon 1:9/305mm AGFA GEVAERT AG lens without board (1) Ries Tripod (J-100) with a Double Tilt Head (1) 4x5 Film Back with ground glass plate (1) 5x7 Film Back (without ground glass plate) 6) 5x7 film holders (6) 4x5 film holders (1) lens board (1) Delta 1 lined cloth hood (CPM) The tripod and head alone were purchased new for $700.00.
