A Commemorative death plaque to SAMUEL McCANN As far as I can see there are only two possibles for this plaque. They are: 5224 Pte. Samuel McCann of the 7th Battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers who was killed in action at Gallipoli on 9th August 1915; or 16424 Pte. Samuel McCann of the 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment who appears to have died in Edinburgh on 15th June 1919. He had previously served as Pte. 13368 in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was also a Gallipoli veteran. Samuel McCann of The Royal Munster Fusiliers Index Card shows his name as "Sam" but he is shown as "Samuel" on both CWGC and Soldiers Died in the Great War. His family were from Castle Warren, Donemana, Co.Tyrone. The plaque has obviously been polished over the years and there is a small hole drilled at 6 o'clock.
