This deck plan of the famed Andrea Doria measures approximately 28" x 40". It is printed on onion skin paper and is in very poor condition and has been taped by a previous owner. Nevertheless, it belongs to those who collect items like this of cruise ships and liners that have met with disaster. The Andrea Doria was THE shipwreck of the 1950's. Who can forget the televised image of her rolling over on her side and sinking into the North Atlantic? Built by the Italian Line in 1953, she was 700 feet long and 90 feet wide with a 30 foot draft. She had steam turbines, twin screws and sped along at 23 knots. She carried 1241 passengers from Italy to New York and was the Italian Line flagship. She collided with the Swedish liner Stockholm off Nantucket on July 25, 1956 and sank a day later taking 52 lives. Sold as is.
