For your consideration is a Fabulous EARLY and RARE Deco WINGED MERCURY Sterling Silver CHALICE or CUP TROPHY! Chalice measures about 11.5" tall. The base measures about 4" in diameter & the cup top rim about 4.25" in diameter. The bowl is marked on the rim edge with English hallmarks...the Lion Passant for sterling quality, the Leopard Head for London, and the date letter "e" for 1900...see picture. T is also a makers mark that precedes all those hallmarks that appears to be "CE" possibly? Cup weighs in at a hefty 17.35 ounces (486 grams) on my scale!The dedication on the front reads "C.N.J. From J.C.W. in Token of Friendship and Gratitude 1900" ...see picture.The detail in this piece is absolutely incredible from the details in Mercury's face winged feet and cap...to the globe he rests on! A magnificent piece of antique Deco Period silver....AND we begin the bidding at SCRAP/MELT PRICE!Trophy is in good used condition with less than average wear that would be expected from a sterling piece of this vintage. t are a few bumps/bruises to the "cup" portion of the piece...these are not major...but they are t Otherwise the cup fine.
