This is a nice old decorative Spongs bean slicer.The body is made of aluminium and has a wooden handle.The body still has some traces of original green paint.This slicer is unusual in that these are usually made of cast iron,not aluminium.The piece has a clamp at the base to fix to a surface.The slicer is well marked in raised letters SPONGS No 632 BEAN SLICER - MADE IN ENGLAND.The slicer probably dates to the mid 1900s and is in pretty decent condition with light wear wear commensurate with age and use.This nice old Spongs bean slicer would grace any collection or sit very well in any period or contemporary setting.
