Deeds that Thrill the Empire - 2 volume set - true stories of the most glorious acts of heroism of the Empire's soldiers and sailors during the Great War. These are a fascinating read of deeds of true heroism of soldiers awarded with VCs, DSO, DFCs etc in World War 1No publication date but I assume 1915 because all stories are between 1914 and 1915. Over 400 black and white illustrations many full page in each volume + total of 26 coloured plates. Both are bound in half red leather and red cloth to boards. Books are larger than a4 size total of 903 pages across the 2 volumes, index at the end of volume 2 Considering their age these are in really good condition and there is no splitting to leather spines. There is a crease to the outside of leather spine of volume 1 - see photoInternally pages are in excellent condition crisp, no creasing and very little foxing. The only thing to note is the flyleaf of each volume must have borne the owners inscription and these have been neatly cut out of the top right hand corner.
