This is a wonderful example of Anderson's tremendous talent. This painting depicts a mountain goat in mid jump down a mountainside. A very dynamic piece, it is extremely well rendered. The colouring and lighting of the animal (as well as its anatomy), and background are exquisite and subtle. Painting animals is always difficult, painting white animals is the most difficult of all. There are many technical and artistic challenges to painting an animal like this because of its colour and Anderson succeeded magnificently. One only has to take a look at the close ups to see what a beautiful job he did. I think this is one of the best paintings Anderson ever did, if one looks at the animal itself, it has evokes the style of Bob Kuhn, though that is just my own personal opinion. Dennis Anderson was an award winning artist. These are a few of the many awards he acquired. Gold Medal for Sculpture, National Academy Of Western Art, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City, OK; Awards of Merit for Sculpture, Society of Animal Artists, New York, NY; Bronze Medal for Painting National Academy of Western Art, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City, OK; Award of Merit for Illustration, Kansas City Art Directors Club, Kansas City, MO; Silver Medal for Sculpture, National Academy of Western Art, National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City, read more
