ANTIQUE ADAMS & WESTLAKE / DENVER & RIO GRANDE RAILROAD LANTERN WITH DENVER NORTHWEST & PACIFIC GLOBEThis is a Adams and Westlake brand railroad lantern. It is from the Denver and Rio Grand Railroad. It has a clear globe from the Denver Northwest & Pacific line. The DNW&P was a short lived railroad that became the D&SL Denver and Salt Lake. It was acquired by the D&RG in 1931. That would explain the D&RG lantern with the DNW&P globe. The D&RG eventually became The D&RGW (Denver & Rio Grande Western) The D&SL was famous for the Moffat tunnel which linked Denver to Salt Lake City Utah. The Moffat tunnel is still in use today and connects Denver with the Western Slope of Colorado and the Western United States. Here is a link to the Moffat tunnel info that shows the tunnel and the original D&SL route that was replaced by the tunnel. https:///hst-moffat-tunnel.html The lantern is missing the burner but that is the most generic part and can probably be replaced. The lantern does show some wear and has some rust color but then it is around 80 years old. The globe is in good condition.
