Department 56 Central Synagogue Christmas in the City Series Retired Hand Painted Lighted Ceramic Building Historical Landmark Series Item No. 56. 59204 Up for your consideration is a Dept 56 lighted porcelain building of Central Synagogue in New York City. The actual Central Synagogue is located at 55 th and Lexington in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, was built in 1872 and has been in continuous use by a Jewish Congregation longer than any other in the city. This retired Dept 56 Central Synagogue is beautifully hand painted in a matte finish and measures approximately 7-1/8" wide by 8.5" deep by 9.5" tall. There are areas of snow on the roof and along the base of this building. Please Note: This building is missing the 2 gold spires that are on top of the teal green domes and you can view this in the last 2 photos that I’ve provided. This is why the height measurement is shorter than it is suppose to be. This item was purchased at an Estate Sale, so I’m assuming the spires were misplaced, since it doesn’t appear to me that the spires have broken off. I would think it would be relatively easy to make some type of replacement spires/spikes/finials to fit in the holes. You wouldn’t notice that these spires are missing unless you look at the box, but because of this minor problem, I’m going to start this item with an unbelievably read more
