Dickens' Village "Norfolk Biffins Bakery" In 1984 Dept. 56 began the Dickens' Village series inspired by "Oliver Twist", "Nicholas Nickleby", "David Copperfield", and the favorite among collectors, "A Christmas Carol". This auction is for a brand new, only removed from the box for inspection and photographing, Dickens' Village "Norfolk Biffins Bakery" from âeoeA Christmas Carolâe. Quoting the front of the sleeve: âeoeNamed for a squab and swarthy type of dark-red baking apple, this building recalls a scene from the classic novel âeoeA Christmas Carolâe. âeoeâe¦.the Spirit stood with Scrooge in a bakerâe(tm)s doorway, and taking off the covers as their bearers passed, sprinkled incense on their dinners from his torchâe¦when t were angry words between some dinner-carriers who had jostled with each other, he shed a few drops of water on them from it, and their good humour was restoredâe¦âe You can peek inside and see a 3-D scene complete with fresh baked goods. The building measures 9-1/2" tall, by 6" wide and 6" deep, comes complete with light and lightcord. This piece, numbered 56.58491, was introduced in 2002 and retired in 2004 making it hard to find brand new in the box. The box sleeve does show some minor wear.
