This is the Mainstreet Hardware store. It is typically hard to find this piece at this great price. Most of the Dept 56 pieces from this estate appear to be in like new condition and many of them have not been displayed. They are still in the original plastic inside the styrofoam packaging. History of Dept 56 Villages: As a group of friends enjoyed a Christmas dinner in a small country inn, they recaptured many wonderful memories of the past. The beautiful decorations, lights and fresh snow gave them the idea to recreate their memories in a miniature ceramic Christmas Village 1976 Snow Village was introduced. 1984 The Heritage Village Collection was introduced, with the first release being The Dicken's Village Series. 1986 The Heritage Village Collection expanded with The New England Village Series and The Alpine Village Series 1987 The Heritage Village Collection grew with the addition of the busy Christmas in the City 1990 The Heritage Village Collection added The North Pole Series 1994 The Disney Parks Village Series were introduced Each piece is authenticated by the Deptment 56 logo and name on the bottom. Every year many pieces are retired from production. The mold is broken for each piece that is retired, making the retired pieces MORE VALUABLE and HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE. *** Bid with confidence.
