You are bidding on an unusual Cast Iron Skillet with a heat ring, marked on the bottom: CAST IRON COOKING - WARE SIZE 8 S-2338-1 DETROIT - U.S.A. It has what appears to be a nickel coating on the exterior and a chrome surface on the interior. The nickel coating is mostly intact with some nicks and dings on the bottom. The cooking surface is worn to the cast iron and is smooth and flat with a few minor scratches. It weighs 4 pounds. The skillet has an inset heat ring and sits flat on a flat surface. There is no rust and there are no repairs, cracks, chips or pits. My guess is that it was made sometime between 1930 and 1955 by the Detroit-Michigan Stove Company, which ceased to exist in 1955. Its dimensions are: Top Diameter (excluding spouts) 10 1/2" Cooking surface diameter 8 1/2" Height of side wall 2" Weight 4 lbs.
