Diefenthal Solingen Germany Knife (Like Puma 971 but stag) Rare N.O.S. Handmade Lockback. Condition is listed as "Used" but this specimen has never been used, carried or sharpened. Diefenthal is one of the famous old makers from Solingen, Germany. This handmade Diefenthal is a very rare piece. It is similar to Puma's TC NO. 7. I know of no other maker that created a stag scaled, blade and saw knife combination, let alone with such precision as this piece illustrates. The special stainless steel blade is presion hollow ground. Super sharp factory edge. The 4" blade locks up tight without any wiggle in any direction and snaps back quickly in place into the handle. It uses a lock back mechanism. The special stainless steel is used in the saw too, with the points perfectly ground and flawless. The 4" saw snaps into place and does not use a lock. It too snaps back nicely in place into the handle. Since this a vintage knife, I believe the stag scales are probably Sambar stag, but as rare as this piece is I could find no confirmation of that. The fit of the stag scales to metal is ultra tight and there are no chips or cracks. The back bolster has a lanyard hole. The bolsters have a nice patina that looks too cool to buff out in my opinion, so I leave that to the new owner. Knife body is 5". I do not have the original box.I do not take returns. read more
