His "only authorized biography" was published by Random House in 1941: a delightful storybook illustrated with Studio art in color and black-and-white that relates his life from birth and incorporates many of his best cartoon adventures. For Donald's 60th anniversary Applewood Books produced this splendid deluxe edition of the book in a colorful box with a picture-disc CD recording, sealed in plastic, of a "fireside chat" between Donald Duck and CARL BARKS, the great Donald and Uncle Scrooge comic book artist-writer. Also inside the box sealed in plastic are a transcript of the "fireside chat" and a "Happy 60th Birthday, Donald Duck" card featuring a Duckburg painting by Barks titled Surprise Party at Memory Pond . Out of print, this deluxe boxed set was issued in an edition of only 5,000 copies originally priced at $50.00 .
