Included in thislot is a copy of a 1966 Story Guide & Operating Procedures for DisneylandMonorail, a copy of the Mark VI Study Guide for Walt Disney World Monorail,plus more! The Disneyland MonorailSystem (originally, the Disneyland ALWEG Monorail) opened on June 14, 1959, asa sightseeing attraction in Tomorrowland in Disneyland. The initial track was awinding .8-mile loop and became the first daily operating monorail in thewestern hemisphere. The Monorail also became the first to cross a public streetin 1961 when the beamway was extended to a total length of 2.5 miles and astation was built at the Disneyland Hotel. With a second stop, the Monorail hadtransformed from ride to a full-fledged transportation system. The Walt Disney World monorail systemhas been in continuous operation since 1971 with double beam track that circlesthe Seven Seas Lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom. Originally, the monorailsystem connected the Contemporary and Polynesian hotels with the Magic Kingdomand Transportation and Ticket Center. In later years, the Grand Floridian wasadded to the loop.
