The book traces the origins of scuba diving equipment from the 1860's developments of Rouquayrol and Denayrouze through La Prieur to Cousteau - Gagnan, and also their development of the three-bolt closed diving dress system that was an alternate to Siebe's 12-bolt design, and was the basis for French, German, Russian and Chinese helmet design from the late 1800's through most of the 20 th century. Although the text is in French, and internet translation services can help in converting sections of text to English, the collection of images help tell the story.
